Wangolina Sauvignon Blanc 750ml 2018
Region: Limestone Coast, South Australia
Units Per Case: 12
Pronounced with punchy passionfruit, lime, honeydew melon and floral notes of orange blossom. Unashamedly Sauvignon Blanc, it is a fruit bowl of aromas with some lovely herbal notes like lemongrass adding to the complexity. Intense yet elegant with zesty passionfruit, papaya and grapefruit. The lively fruit flavours last the length of the palate with a refreshing minerality and a cleansing kick of acid on the finish.
2019 was a fantastic vintage for Mt Benson Sauvignon Blanc and when the grapes came off the vines, everyone was excited about the mouth-watering aromatics. The fruit for this wine came from three separate Wangolina blocks, which are each planted to different clones of Sauvignon Blanc. Block 3 is planted to a clone which gives a depth of herbal, grassy and gooseberry characters whilst Block 8 and Block 5 provide more bright and tropical notes. As they impart different characteristics into the wine, the three blocks are kept separate until the final blending is done. All blocks are machine harvested at night followed by skin contact time prior to crushing and pressing. Fermentation is in stainless steel to preserve the fresh fruit characters. Yeast is selected for it’s ability to heighten the flavour profile from each block.
