Hugh Hamilton Black Blood II Shiraz 750ml 2017
Awards: 95 Points Halliday Wine Companion
“Each Black Blood represents fruit from three propitious sites: Cellar (I), Black Sheep (III) and this, from the alluvial ironstone of the Church Vineyard. Each is essentially made in the same fashion. From youngish 25yo vines, this is my favourite. Exemplary poise across billowing black fruit flavours, violet, deli meats and judicious, albeit, assertive oak handling. The sheer vinosity of the wine is more than a match.”
Region: McLaren Vale, South Australia

Punchy, lifted, raspberry, red liquorice and cherries backed with a subtle salami meatiness, sweet tobacco, and milk chocolate. A big, sweet fruit palate. Loaded with fresh red fruits, raspberry, cherries, and rose. The medium weight and fine texture leaves the wine soft, plush, and generous.
The Church Vineyard was once the bed of an ancient river. Whatever the flows in the past may have been, this river now trickles quietly along the base of the block. You can taste its mark in the generosity of fruit that typifies this wine.
